Who says that you can't clean your house in a matter of 20 minutes? AND give your kid his 2nd bath of the day because while you are cooking dinner and cleaning, he decided to take his poopy diaper off all by himself (because he's a big boy, mumma).
Tonight we were supposed to go to Ryans parents house to celebrate their 40th Anniversary. It was planned for me to cook the dinner, which meant that I was bringing all the food and cooking it there. Well, I never really gave it much thought about how much work it is to pack up all that stuff- so at the very last minute, I called and asked everyone to come over to our house. So then our mad dash to clean (some might say that thowing everything into boxes and stashing it in the closet isn't considered cleaning- I say screw them!) began. That's when Griffin decided to pull the diaper stunt-I guess that peeing all over his crib the other day wasn't bad enough.
Lucky for me, Ryan stays calm while I'm about to lose my shit! Ok, that's probably not the best choice of words in this situation- but really, I was about ready to go over the edge. Turns out that a couple glasses of wine takes care of all that-and lucky for me, there was plenty.
The night turned out really nice despite the setbacks. I made a rib roast, baked stuffed seafood, au gratin potatoes, butternut squash, carrots, and salad. My sister-in-law brought the Sangria, and a yummy red velvet cake. It was a feast for sure. My mother and father- in law did not want a party, so it was the least we could do to celebrate 40 YEARS!!

By the way............HAPPY ANNIVERSARY CHARLIE AND GAIL!!!!

All I can say is that I am purely disgusted by this article. What a shame. It's no wonder that so many women have such low self esteem, and go to such great lengths to attain what is really unattainable.

6 reasons that I should have stayed in bed today:

1. Griffin was up at 6:30 am. Since that doesn't suck enough, he took off his diaper (in his crib) and peed-EVERYWHERE!!

2. Being soaked in urine must have gone to his head, since he spent the rest of the morning being a complete brat. Really- is it normal that my 2 yr old had a tantrum because I was driving daddys car (see reason 5 for why I had daddys car)?

3. My mother, who thought she was being funny, actually pissed me off (we're good now- love you mom!).

4. Work was busy. I can handle busy, what I hate is how I seemed to have a magnet that only attracted either the asshole customers that had some type of complicated issue, or the complete dumbasses that need detailed instructions on how to unplug their phones.

5. Car repairs totalling over $300 to correct the little issue of leaking transmission fluid.

6. Conjunctivitis. I'd blame the bright red "stink" eye on a night of hard drinking and wild partying, but I'm too tired to even care.

So, I'm going to bed now.......... I feel a headache coming on.

Dear Mr and Mrs Popsicle makers,
I was wondering if you could sell boxes of Popsicles with JUST red and purple? Seriously, what does a parent do with all the yellow, orange, and green Popsicles that my son has decided he will not even look at any more. Oh, how he loves to get a pop. It always brings a huge smile, and sometimes even a little dance to get one......as long as it's red or purple! Is there a secret healthy ingredient that you put in the yellow, orange, and green ones that makes kids refuse to eat them. Perhaps it's just a way to make us poor parents buy more Popsicles???
Anyway, I really hope that you consider this request. If not, perhaps you can offer me suggestions of what I can do with my freezer full of the "bad" color Popsicles. Maybe you even have some recipes for a Popsicle pie or something that will trick my son into eating the offensive pops?
Thank you for your consideration in this matter,
Griffins Mommy

I am totally getting Griffins cold. Woke up with a sore throat, and a general feeling of complete crap. So I went to bed at 6:30 tonight. I was all cozy and snuggled up, and sound asleep until Ryan came in at 9 to go to bed himself. Wouldn't you know that I wouldn't be able to fall back asleep! I've taken some Tylenol PM cold medicine- keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be snoozing again soon.

Tomorrow it's back to work after a much needed 6 day break. I could really get used to this. Today Griffin and I went out to lunch with my mother. Okay, so taking a 2 year old out to a restaurant isn't really relaxing and pleasurable, but it's the opportunity to be able to go out to lunch, and spend time with my mother that was really nice. I suppose Griffin wasn't a complete terror, but the complete refusal (including the mini-tantrum) over sitting in a high chair was just the start of me trying to eat as fast as I could to get the hell out of there ASAP! We also had the trying to climb on the table moment- because he wanted the salt and pepper shaker that I had said no to about 20 times, and the running around the restaurant- almost knocking into the waitress carrying food moment. Maybe the next time that my mother wants to go out for lunch, she won't take it personally when I pass.......I'll have more opportunities to enjoy lunch when Griffin is about 20.

How can anyone really get mad at a 2 year old for feeding the dog his dinner? Especially when it's spaghetti, and he's feeding it to him one strand at a time........and giggling his little butt off. Where is the video camera when I need it?

I finally bought a laptop. Maybe now it won't be 7 months in between posts! I really can't believe that I haven't posted a single sentence since June.
Of course Griffin has grown and changed so much in those 7 months. It's really incredible how he's become such a little boy in that time. As I type this, he's laying on the floor playing with his matchbox cars- pushing them, crashing them, and making car noises. It's so darn cute to watch him.
He's truly "all boy". He is very physical, and loves to climb and jump all over the place. His favorite toys are his trucks and cars. He stays endlessly entertained "driving" them all over the house. He also is very interested in anything that his daddy is doing. For Christmas, he got a tool set (plastic, of course), and likes to go around "fixing" things, just like dadda.
The biggest change I can think of though, is how he's really growing into that big personality of his. He's incredibly outgoing and independent. I think that he learns things really quickly because he has such a drive to do it himself. He started putting his plate and fork in the sink when he's done eating. Without being told to- he just started doing it. On the other end of that, he has also started the terrible twos! He's definately one to let you know when he does not get his way!
There's so much more to write about, but there is just no way I can squeeze 7 months of stuff into this one post. So, that's all for now...........
except this one last bit of info, before I completely forget. His stats from his 2 year check up- 27lbs, and 34 in tall.
