Out of the mouth of my 3 year old.
After a few moments of deep thought....."If the dog eats cat food, will he turn into a cat"?
While playing with a toy cell phone..... "I need to put Facebook on this"
My ramblings on family, everyday life, infertility and everything in between, and how ASSISTED REPRODUCTIVE TECHNOLOGY made it all possible.........

It's so hard to believe that summer is quickly coming to an end. This is always a depressing time of year. I love the fall, but I really hate the transition from summer. I think it goes back to being a kid, and the fun ending and school beginning. It's really going to be rough for me when Griffin starts going to school.
A couple of weeks ago we went to Moosehead Lake for vacation. I think it's going to become an annual family trip. We already have our reservations for next year. The week was so peaceful and relaxing. What I like the most is that Griffin LOVES it there. It was so refreshing to let my son just be a kid and get to experience some of the freedoms that I had as a child. He and the other kids got to run around and play, and as long as they checked in periodically we were fine. We had a lot of family there, so really they were always being looked after. Griff keeps asking when we can go back!
Oh, and this summer my little boy had learned how to ride his bike!! I couldn't be more proud. It's so cute to see him, with that huge helmet, peddling as hard as he can.

Yesterday we got to break the pool in for the season! Griffin and I actually went in it in the morning and again after dinner. The water is crystal clear and at a perfect 76 degrees. Happiness!!
Unfortunately there was no swimming for me today. I spent most of the day in bed with another migraine. Unhappiness! It seems like the migraine situation is just getting worse for me. I keep hoping that it's going to get better, and when I have a couple of weeks without any headaches, I start to get hopeful. Then ultimately, I'm let down again. It's so frustrating. I have put off any more IVF until I felt more in control of the migraines and my health, but it seems like I'm fighting a losing battle. Anyway, I'm feeling better right now. Of course, I did take a percocet since not much else was working. Hopefully that was enough to break it and I'm praying that it's not back in the morning.
So here's some pictures from my nephews wedding:

I can't even count how many posts I've started, but didn't finish over that last 2 months. Then tonight it dawned on me that I need to write something- it's been 2 months! I'm not going to write a long drawn out post about every-single-thing that's happened in the last 2 months. Obviously, we've been really busy around here.
This weekend I actually had both Saturday and Sunday off. It's been a while since I've had a whole weekend. Work has been busy and I've put in a good amount of overtime hours. I'm not complaining though. The money is good and we've had a lot of uses for it this summer. Yesterday, the installers came and put the new liner in our pool- tomorrow all the water will be delivered!! So by mid week, we should be swimming in it. I can't even express how completely happy I am that it's finally done and fixed. Now, let's keep our fingers crossed that we get more than one year out of it this time!
Last night, my nephew Matt got married. Seriously, when did my nieces and nephews get old enough to get married? It's such an odd thought, and it really makes me feel old. It was a nice wedding and I had a really good time. It's always nice anyway when the whole family can get together. Now that everyone is getting older and having families of their own, getting together has gotten scarce. We joked last night that at least we know this year we'll see each other 3 times- the wedding, Thanksgiving and Christmas!
Today, I decided to have a bit of a mother-son day and take Griffin for the first time to the movie theater. With all the overtime that I've been working, most of the responsibility for Griffin has fallen to Ryan, so he needed a bit of a break. We took off this morning and ran some errands, then we picked up Ryan's niece and nephew, Lucy and Bryce. My plan was to take them for lunch and then go to the movies. We ended up being almost an hour early, so we checked out 5 Below. BIG MISTAKE!! LOL! Of course the place is loaded with crap that kids beg for, right?! I'm such a sucker and can not say no to buying them each a $5 something.
We finally made it to the movies, and watched Cars 2. Griffin did ok for his first movie theater experience. He may not yet be completely ready to sit through a whole movie and be quiet. Thank God the movie was loud and people couldn't hear him. There was only one incident when he wanted to talk to Bryce in the middle of the movie, and the more that I told him to sit down, the louder he got! A little threatening on my part, and it was all under control rather quickly though. Overall, it was a fun day, and I think that all the kids enjoyed it. That's all that matters.

Yikes, I just noticed that it's been over a month since I last posted on here. I kept meaning to, but it wouldn't be me if procrastination wasn't involved.
Today is my 7th anniversary. Ryan and I aren't into big romantic gestures or anything, but we did have a nice day together. Ryan's parents took Griffin for the afternoon. We originally wanted to take a nice ride and get lunch, but it poured out all day, so it didn't quite work out that way. Instead we had a late lunch at an Italian restaurant and then ran some errands. It was nice to have some quiet time together, and talk without answering 100 questions from a 3 year old.
Speaking of my 3 year old.......we are totally going through the terrible 3's right now. No, it's not terrible 2's, it's 3's! Someone once told me that 3 is a professional 2. They weren't kidding! Oh the joy of hearing the word "No", or having to say "no" 5 times before he'll listen. We are constantly having to take away toys or put him in time-outs lately. It's so frustrating. I keep reminding myself that it's a phase, and that it will pass.
There is good side to. Griffin's finally sleeping in his big boy bed and not his crib. I'm kind of embarrassed to admit that I let him sleep in a crib that long, but hey, it worked and we were all happy. We put the bed in his room months ago hoping that he'd be excited for it, but no luck. Ryan finally took the crib down, and Griffin didn't have a choice. Apparently we did something right because he went right to sleep in it that first night, and has ever since. No fighting, or getting out of bed.
Now....if I could go to bed and stay in bed all night without the dog waking me up or Griffin getting up at 5am, life would be good.

A couple of weeks ago, I took part in the Rally for NH. We were there to protest the budget bill that would make severe cuts to programs for the handicapped, elderly and low income. Much needed programs, mind you. The bill would also strip public union employees of their collective bargaining rights. Seriously, what kind of society do we live in when we start taking away from the people that we depend on the most, firefighters, police, teachers, etc. I'm a proud union girl, and I'm ashamed of my government.

I can't believe how busy the Karcher house has been these last couple of weeks. I wish that I could say that it was all exciting, but we've just been busy with everyday boring stuff. Reuben is doing well. He still loves Ryan, but he's become a lot more attached to me. I'm guessing that he's figuring out where he's going to get the attention. He may not be real happy with me right now though. Yesterday he was neutered. I was going to wait, but since he started directing his affection towards my cats, I made the appointment right away.
I've had Dr appointments myself this week as well. One of them was for a mammogram. Seriously, when the hell did I become old enough to need a mammogram?? It was my baseline, and as long as all looks good, then I don't have to go again until I'm 40. I was so worried that it was going to be painful. I found it to be uncomfortable, but not painful and it was over really quick. So if you've been putting it off for fear of the pain, go ahead and make the appointment.
Any of you couponers? I use them, but only here and there. Or, I'll clip them and forget about them. I saw a segment on a talk show about couponing, and have become totally inspired. No, I don't think I'll ever become an extreme couponer, but I did save a lot of money this week on my first try. I also learned a lot and found a great website to get started. I'm very excited about this. My grocery and shopping bills have become so extremely high, and it depresses me to even think about the amount of money that I spend on food.
