Im not one for stating the obvious but, SNOW SUCKS!! I'm a New Englander through and through, and there are many things I love about that. BUT not the snow. Perhaps I wouldn't hate it as much if I didn't have a job that is mandatory to show up at even in the worst of storms. I could handle it more if I got to be snuggled up in my nice warm house, relaxing and watching the pretty white stuff coat the world around me.

Today, I got to sit in my car (because I couldn't open my drivers side door) and watch the hateful white crap ruin my day. I got into a car accident. It's only the 2nd time that I've ever been in accident, and let me tell you, they have both been because of snow. As careful of a driver as I am in it, today I lost control over my car as I was coming down a curvy hill. I began to fishtail, and couldn't get it back under control.

I am soooo lucky though because the incredibly high snow banks prevented me from plowing straight into the trees. It could have been so much worse. Plus, I was the only car involved and didn't hit anyone else, and I am so grateful for that. I ended up being completely stuck in the snow bank, with snow up to my side window. It was hard, compacted snow, so I couldn't get out through my door. Since I live in a wonderful small town, the plow guy stopped to check on me and then called the police for me. The cop came and got all my info for the accident report, he called a towing company, and then stayed there with me.

As far as we can tell the damage was mostly to the front drivers side bumper. It's all cracked and broken. The fog light on that side was completely broken off, and I broke the windshield washing fluid bottle, the blue snow under my car made that obvious. I have an appointment tomorrow to bring it to the shop to get an estimate and I'm sure they'll check for mechanical damage as well.

I am okay. No missing limbs or anything like that. It was really scary though when I realized that I wasn't going to be able to get control back and I was going down that hill. I knew I was going to crash, and I just prayed that it wouldn't be too bad and that it wouldn't hurt. I was able to drive it back home, and I stayed home for the rest of the day. I seem to be a bit sore tonight, so we'll see what tomorrow brings. Again, I'm so grateful that I didn't hit anyone else and that I wasn't seriously injured, but most of all I'm really happy that Griffin wasn't in the car with me!

Getting towed out. Snow banks don't look like they are too high, right??

Until you realize that this was taken looking out my window while I was stuck!
